YOUR SONGS PRODUCED AND RECORDED IN MY LONGS, SC STUDIO
The services I offer as one individual in my own studio are more diverse and inclusive than most I've ever come across elsewhere- and all at your disposal for the flat rate of $30 per hour- no extra or hidden fees. Commonly completed productions run $300- $400 with vocals, mixing and mastering included. Please click on the production link on the home page (top right) to hear samples. I do play in many different styles the following instruments- piano, guitar, electric bass, live drums and percussion, some violin, twelve string electric guitar, mandolin and banjo- all of which help to create important textures and colors when needed. My studio includes a well mic.-ed drum kit, several guitars (acoustic and electric), electric basses, Roland Digital piano, several synth modules, drum machine, various forms of hand percussion, many good microphones, and a 24 track digital work station complete with automated mixing and mastering capabilities. My work has a clear sense of reality that other simply midi based facilities usually don't offer, yet there are times when a piece of music (particularly more "techno" in style) demands a solely midi based approach- which I can do too if desired. Having lived in Manhattan for over thirty years and having produced many independent records in my own recording studio with a variety of song writers, singers, and instrumentalist artists, I have come to develop a well-rounded approach to music production. There are many styles of music to be sure. Any good producer needs a lot of exposure to these styles and experience in working with them to fully convey an understanding of them in his productions. Every song writer needs to tap into a personal stylistic identity in the recording process where each musical element in a production becomes an important part of a larger statement appropriate to what his or her music will ultimately convey. My job is to create those instrumental parts which fit best together harmonically and rhythmically, and which best convey the mood and emotions that any singer needs to feel in order to fully express their melodies and written words. Finding and meeting those needs for each individual has probably given me the most pleasure in my recording career. I first like to become aware of each writer's musical influences- what artists they like or in particular what productions they have heard lately that convey the mood they would want in their own song. In a free half hour consultation, I can usually size up in my mind what most of those stylistic elements will be in any song including the instrumentation needed. It has always been a pleasure and an education discovering those musical elements which best fit the needs of all the clients I've worked with- whether they have been well known professionals or any dedicated song writers from all walks of life wanting to hear their music in fully recorded form. I have very commonly worked with songwriters and singers who do not play any instrument, but who have lyrics and melodies floating in their head or written down in scrap books. This is usually where it all begins, whether there is a guitar or piano at one's disposal at the time or not. So songwriters who don't play- don't dispair or apologize for it. I have come to know how to work with many people just like you very well, and I've proven this fact over a few decades now.
